ARCHIMEDEAN SCHOOLS APPLICATION & ADMISSION PROCEDURES

The applications are available in three languages – English/Spanish/Creole.

Admissions are based on a public lottery system in the event that there are more applicants than positions available. The purpose of this lottery is to create a priority list of student applicants per grade level for the upcoming school year only. Students are admitted based on their place on the priority list in numerical order and until all positions are filled. If an applicant is not offered admission for the upcoming school year, he/she will need to reapply for the following year, unless they selected the option to be automatically included in the next year's application pool. This selection only automatically moves the application to the new year one time. After that the applicant will need to reapply.

Online applications are the only applications that are accepted. If you choose to fill out an application please keep in mind that the information you submit is transmitted over an encrypted connection. If you are not able to access the online application, please come by our office and we will help you submit one.

During the 4th application period, applicants are placed at the end of the last priority list created based on the date and time of the successful submission of the application, and applicants are selected on a first come - first serve system, based on the priority list they belong to.

The following groups of students are granted lottery priority. They will be placed in a separate lottery and assigned a position ahead of those applicants participating in the regular lottery:

  • All current Archimedean students within each school are automatically readmitted for the following school year without completing an application (e.g. Pre-K to K, 3rd grade to 4th grade, 1st grade to 2nd grade. etc.)
  • The following groups of students will not have to participate in the lottery and will gain automatic admission/re-admission based on their successful completion of their application and space availability:
    • Archimedean Schools Board Members’ children (Priority List #1)
    • Archimedean employees’ children (Priority List #2)
    • Students who are the children of an active duty member of any branch of the United States Armed Forces. (Priority list #3)
    • Students who have successfully completed a voluntary prekindergarten education program (VPK) under ss. 1002.51-1002.79 provided by Archimedean Schools during the previous year. (Priority List #4)
    • Siblings of current students of Archimedean Academy Inc. Schools. (Priority List #5)

For the above categories a lottery will take place should the applicants be more than the spaces available.

The lottery dates are posted on the Archimedean website and on the school bulletin board. In addition, once the application period closes, the applications are processed and the applicants are notified via email as to when the lottery will be held.

All applications are for the school year that is after the first application period. For example, if the first application period opens on January 15th 2016, every application up until December 31st 2016 will be for the school year 2016-2017.

From January 1st to the start of the new application period (Jan 16) the schools do not accept any applications.

Students will be admitted to the Archimedean Schools, regardless of race, gender, religion or ethnic origin and our admission will be equitable for all students.

Below are the lottery guidelines:

The purpose of the lottery is to create a priority list (1st, 2nd, 3rd etc.). The student receiving a priority number 1 has priority over the student receiving priority number 2 etc.

  • The following groups of students are granted lottery priority and they will be placed in a separate lottery and assigned a position ahead of those applicants participating in the regular lottery:
    • Siblings of current students of Archimedean Academy Inc. Schools.
      • Once a student has been admitted to one of the Archimedean schools and attended for one full day, the sibling(s) of that student are considered sibling for lottery purposes and they will be placed at the end of the sibling list based on the date and time of the successful submission of the application.
    • Twin siblings or siblings in the same grade level: If one of the twin siblings based on the order of their drawing has received position priority number X, the other twin automatically receives the position X+1 during the drawing.
  • For each grade level, each applicant’s name is placed in a clear container. Names will be drawn on a random basis and all positions will be filled based on the order of their drawing. A priority list of the names, along with the number received based on the order of their drawing for each name, is typed and projected publicly for all the participants to view. Upon the closing of the lottery, this priority list, which is created during the public lottery and projected publicly, is emailed to the registrar, the principal and the president of the Board.
  • For each grade level, the priority list is generated for each application period.
  • There will be at least two staff members present during the lottery drawing and the lottery will be open to the public.
  • Once the lottery drawing has been completed a priority list is created for the specific period and is maintained in the school records.
  • The lottery drawing is video recorded.
  • Based on the results of the lottery, which are projected publicly, a priority list is compiled.
  • STUDENTS IN THE WAITING LIST OF THE FIRST PRIORITY PERIOD HAVE PRIORITY OVER STUDENTS FROM SUBSEQUENT APPLICATION PERIODS.
  • The applicants can check their number on the priority list by going to http://sis.archimedean.org/application_check
  • Once there, they need to read the instructions on the page, then add the email that they used to submit the application of their child and click submit.
  • The applicants are notified via an email of their placement in the list and via a phone call and email of their admission. The registrar keeps a record of all phone calls and notes on the communication.
  • As openings arise throughout the year, the next child on the waiting list will be offered admission. The Archimedean Schools reserve the right to accept students based on the needs of each grade level and the requirements of Class Size Amendment.
  • The parent/guardian has 48 hours to accept/refuse the space and complete all required documentation for admission into the program. If the parent does not comply within this time restriction, the space will be offered to the next child on the waiting list.
  • Students who forfeit or reject admission and/or withdraw from the application school year will have to reapply and will be placed at the end of all priority lists.

All graduating 8th grade students of Archimedean Middle Conservatory are automatically articulated in Archimedean Upper Conservatory after their successful application submission during the first application period and therefore are not placed in the lottery.

Students who apply after the first application period, they will receive priority within the lottery of the period in which they submitted a successful application.

If there are more Archimedean Middle Conservatory students applying for articulation than seats available then Archimedean Upper Conservatory shall hold a lottery for all said applicants. This lottery list shall have priority over the general lottery for admission to Archimedean Upper Conservatory.
